30 Years in 30 Seconds

July 23, 2010

Recently, one of the leading Asian American community-based media organizations celebrated its 30th anniversary.  To commemorate this occasion, the Center for Asian American Media commissioned 5 Asian American filmmakers to create film tributes.

Here are the films. Enjoy.

AND ACTION dir. by Marisa Aroy

WHAT I’M NOT dir. by H.P. Mendoza

    Wow, they’re all great. I can’t decide!

I like the tribute (parody?) in Jason Luz’s to Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries.

    Wow, these WERE all great.

It’s tough, but I’d probably have to vote for the HP Mendoza piece. Only because that 30 second tune was so darn catchy!

    @ Macon D

Hmm. I have never heard of Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries. I should look that up.

    @ BigWowo

I like H.P. Mendoza’s song also. He is an interesting filmmaker in that he likes to make Asian American musicals, which is a unique genre choice.

Hi Michella. I will post Geeta’s film.

I think my fave was the first one by Jason Luz. They’re all great, but I think that one struck me because it is so direct and simple. Thanks for posting these !
