Wall of Death, Voice of Love

Sometimes, you hear a singer or piece of music that is so beautiful, so moving that it’s almost painful to listen to. The emotions the song evokes in you are beyond words.

For me, here is one such song. It’s a performance of Henryk Gorecki’s Symphony No. 3 “Sorrowful Songs” sung by soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian.

The video for the song was shot at the Auschwitz concentration camp and includes words etched on a Gestapo jail by an eighteen year old girl who was held there:

Queen of Heaven

Protect me always

Hail Mary full of grace
